gather your people, O Lord

we were standing outside church when Peggy came up and introduced herself. She said that she had seen us in church. during the course of our conversation, Peggy asked us where we came from. Jenny and I were both raised in Arlington, VA, only a few doors apart--although we didn't meet until I was a senior in high school (needing a prom date) and she was a sophomore at another school. we raised our family in Fairfax County, VA (next to Arlington County) where we lived for 30 years. before we moved the 60 miles or so to Strasburg a year and a half ago, we lived in Gainesville VA--part of the ever-expanding northern VA suburbs.

Peggy came to Woodstock VA 20 years ago by way of Alabama. she was born and raised in Australia. her deceased husband was from New York.

Gather Your People

Gather your people, O Lord.
Gather your people, O Lord.
One bread, one body, one spirit of love.
Gather your people, O Lord.
Draw us forth to the table of life: brothers and sisters,
each of us called to walk in your light.

Gather your people, O Lord.
Gather your people, O Lord.
One bread, one body, one spirit of love.
Gather your people, O Lord.
We are parts of the body of Christ, needing each other,
each of the gifts the Spirit provides.

Gather your people, O Lord.
Gather your people, O Lord.
One bread, one body, one spirit of love.
Gather your people, O Lord.
No more harm on the mountain of God: swords into plowshares.
Free us, O Lord, from hardness of heart.

Gather your people, O Lord.
Gather your people, O Lord.
One bread, one body, one spirit of love.
Gather your people, O Lord.
Wash us, Lord, in the waters of life: waters of mercy,
waters of hope that flow from your side.

1 Corinthians 12, Isaiah 2:3-4, 11:9
