mary's assumption

We know from the bible that only a few of Jesus' closest followers stood at the foot of the cross while He died. 

"Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, 'Woman, behold, your son.' Then he said to the disciple, 'Behold, your mother.' And from that hour the disciple took her into his home." 

john 19: 25-27 

from tradition we believe that Jesus' mother lived for some time after Jesus died. can you imagine how difficult that must have been for her? her Son had died, risen from the dead and ascended into heaven. how much she must have missed Him! how glorious it must have been when she was finally reunited with Him in heaven!
